Winter Sojourn is a special edition of Literary Sojourn – a celebration of authors and readers designed to bring book lovers together again after the pandemic pause. In the spirit of our Sojourn mothership event, Winter Sojourn features presentations by four nationally and internationally acclaimed authors who will individually talk about their inspiration for the stories and characters in their published works. Instead of fall foliage, ski season will be our backdrop, and the stories we kindle inside the Strings Pavilion promise to be warm and cozy.
Literary Sojourn is a nonprofit author and reader festival presented by the Bud Werner Memorial Library in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Founded in 1993 with a mission to bring noteworthy authors to our mountain community and promote and inspire the reading of exceptional literature, Literary Sojourn is the oldest and most anticipated literary festival in the Rocky Mountains. The single-day event draws an audience from all over the country and sells out quickly each year.
Sojourn’s historic author lineup has included over 100 recipients and nominees of prestigious literary awards including the Pulitzer Prize, the Man Booker and the National Book Award. The Library is thrilled to sprout Winter Sojourn from this venerable event – a ski season festival that perpetuates and grows the Yampa Valley’s glorious literary tradition.
Off the Beaten Path, Steamboat’s independent bookstore, is Winter Sojourn’s official bookseller. Book sales will be featured on-site throughout the festival. In Sojourn tradition, a casual book signing with all of the authors concludes the afternoon.
Literary Sojourn reconvenes on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
